Are there any scholarships for married moms 35 and older?

by Wally Delgado on June 27, 2011

I am 35 years old with two children. My husband and I both work and we are doing ok for ourselves, but I still want my college degree. I went to college right after graduation in 1992 but I didnt finish. I am at junior status and I would like to return for my degree. I dont qualify for financial aid, my g.p.a. was 2.7 and to get a student loan at these prices is total robbery. Does anyone know of any scholarships?

You need to contact the school you plan to attend. The school that I’m attending (I’m married and 27) has an adult student advocacy program in which I am enrolled. With the enrollment, I’m informed of many scholarships, loan privileges, etc that are not available for traditional students.

My sister, who lives in Wyoming (married, with children and over 35), went back to collage on something called a Pell Grant (originated by the late Senator Claiborne Pell of Rhode Island).
I just googled the grant (Wikipedia) and apparently the main qualification is financial need, for which I see you say you don’t qualify (however, it still may be worth checking out, to be certain).
You could contact your former college to see what they have on offer. If you live too far away, try institutions in your area. You might be able to arrange a work-study program or find an alternative (like correspondence courses or other home study with an annual short stay on campus; my nephew’s wife did that for her post-graduate degree).
Good luck!

You have access to the internet try using google or bing. You might want to look into government grants rather than scholarships though you don’t have the gpa for a scholarship.
